Which communities will you speak for and about at the council table?

Molyneux Constituency of ORC. I will speak on behalf of all people who live in the Molyneux Ward as well as all other residents of Otago as we work together towards a sustainable Otago for all.

What is the number one social and economic issue for the community and for the city? (DCC question). What is the key issue for the region at this time and for the next 10 years? (ORC question)

Protecting our environment so future generations can enjoy the benefits of the water and dynamic landscapes as we have. This will include all issues around water quality and quantity, indigenous biodiversity and climate change.

How will you elevate community aspirations? How will you know what they are? (DCC question only)

Under the Local Government Act 2002, councils are required to maintain and improve opportunities for Māori to contribute to local government decision-making processes. How will you honour this obligation in your role with the Dunedin City Council/Otago Regional Council?

The current Mana-to Mana governance level agreement between ORC and Kāi Tahu appears to be working well. The key is engagement at all levels of policy. Working together ensures the mutual obligations are being met. The continued development of the relationship will enable timely decisions are made for the benefit of the Otago environment

What is your usual approach to achieving collegial and constructive relationships with the people you work with? What is the most important element of a constructive working relationship?

Working together as a team is essential in building relationships. Recognising and listening to all views and through engagement and collaboration an agreed team approach can be formed. Communication and strong leadership is the key to maintaining focus on the teams set goals and strategies. A ground up approach to decision making.

The DCC's place-based community fund has been a game changer for community-led development and growing connected and resilient communities in Ōtepoti. What more will you do as a councillor to support community development in the city? (DCC candidate question only)
